An accident in Bradenton recently claimed the life of a woman from the city and injured two others.
That accident occurred on Saturday, June 18. According to troopers from the Florida Highway Patrol, the woman was a passenger in a vehicle heading south on 15th Street East just before midnight. That vehicle suddenly swerved onto the west shoulder, where it hit a tree and caught fire. The car spun around after the initial collision and came to a rest on 15th Street East.
The woman was pronounced dead from her injuries at the scene of the accidente. A six-year-old boy in the vehicle was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he was listed as being in critical condition. The driver of the vehicle, who was not identified, was transported to another area hospital in critical condition.
The FHP continued to investigate the incident in its aftermath to determine the cause of the accident.
Single-car accidents can still have liability issues
While most car accident cases involve multiple parties in the collision, there are some incidents in which a victim could file a personal injury claim despite it being a single-car accident. A passenger who sustains injuries in such an accident could, for example, file a claim against the driver if they were negligent. A driver could also file a claim against a municipality of the roadway was negligently designed or maintained.
