Driver, Passenger Killed in Tampa Wrong-Way Collision

Two people were killed in a wrong-way collision on 15th street in Tampa on the evening of Friday, August 23.

According to reports from Tampa police, the wrong-way driver and their passenger were the deceased parties in the accident. The driver crashed the truck into several parked vehicles before the accident with another vehicle, close to the intersection of 15th St. and 21st Ave. Alcohol was believed to be a factor in the accident, and police were continuing to investigate the circumstances of the collision. No other injuries were immediately reported.

Wrong-way accidents generally caused by drunk drivers

In the vast majority of wrong-way accident cases, the at-fart party was under the influence of alcohol. Being under the influence of drugs or alcohol is far and away the leading cause of these particularly dangerous types of accidents. Usually this involves a drunk driver exiting a highway on an off ramp.

These types of accidents are by their very nature more dangerous than others because they frequently involve head-on collisions, which have much more force behind them than other types of accidents.

Any person who is injured in such an accident is capable of filing an injury claim against the at-fault driver, be they another driver involved in the accident or a passenger in the at-fault driver’s vehicle. Determining liability in these types of accidents is generally quite straightforward, considering the wrong-way driver is clearly disobeying traffic signals and laws.
