The U.S. Department of Labor recently released the numbers for construction fatality accidents from 2018. The DOL reported 101 fatalities for that year in Florida, an increase from 78 in 2017 and 2016, 68 in 2015 and 63 in 2014. A worker sustained serious injuries while working on the second floor of the construction site for the new Sarasota Memorial Hospital on Laurel Road, located near Interstate 75.
